Yes, of course it’s possible. Ancestry.com is one of the largest databases worldwide. It is definitely my first choice if you are looking for your biological family. Similarly, there is 23 and Me and My Heritage. It depends on whether you are male or female and what part of the world you live in.
Will a DNA test prove I am Native American or First Nations?
Yes, through investigation of your DNA plus genealogical research. However, it is important to follow the paper trail and have written documentation. Above all it is the paper documentation that will be accepted and expected.
What sort of DNA test should I do?
Firstly, are you male or female? Secondly, that depends on the information you are looking for. Thirdly, what part of the world you are looking in for your ancestors? There is a logical sequence to the type of tests you should do. Therefore, just ask me.
Is there a difference between Lineage and Origin?
Lineage is a person’s line of ancestors. Similarly, this is also referred to as Pedigree. Origin is what part of the world your family originates from.
